Help Support Boondocks Film Society!

So here’s the scoop. Since we began planning our first event almost exactly a year ago (in March 2017), all of our upfront costs have been covered by our two founders — that is Cindy and myself. These costs generally run between $800 and $2,500 per event.

So last year, we fronted more than $10,000 over 8 events.

The good news is that, after a year, we’ve more or less broken even, if you leave aside the countless hours of work and countless gallons of gas expended to make it all happen. This year, we plan to hold more events, introduce new creative elements, and to expand our reach.

So in order to keep the effort going, we’ve been advised to take steps to make Boondocks fully self-supporting, hopefully well into the future. This means that in order to continue to thrive, we need to raise funds to cover some of the ongoing expenses, to separate Boondocks from our personal finances, to set up a budget for management, and potentially to bring on any part-time help we need to keep our time commitments to a level that’s manageable when considered alongside the jobs that pay our rent.

To this end, we’re excited to announce that we are now fiscally sponsored by the Solo Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit that sponsored the Wassaic Project in their early years.

We can now accept tax-deductible donations.

Since we are considered a project of The Solo Foundation, donations can be made to The Solo Foundation with a note that the donation is intended to help support Boondocks Film Society.
